Pat Rhodes and Sue Lebow

A native New Yorker, Sue relocated to California in 1977. She started her career in counseling; switched to computer programming and retired as a manager in 2002. She and partner, Patty, have been together for 25 years and for the last 18 years have lived in Redwood City, CA (near Palo Alto). They have been talking with their family of friends for the past 10 years about building a retirement community where they could all grow ‘older’ together. Sue is best known for her ‘snort’, laughter, love of jewelry, and prowess for shopping!

A native Californian, Patty spent her career as a Special Education Teacher, mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area. She retired after 30 years in 2001. Patty has been an avid recreational vehicle traveler since childhood. She enjoys table tennis, swimming, and snorkeling. She and Sue follow women’s basketball games, both college and professional. Playing cards and, recently, playing dominoes are a big part of their social lives.

Joyce Dean and Katy Carrel

Joyce was born and raised in California and has lived in the Bay Area for all of her adult life. She loves watching women's basketball, reading, traveling, bird watching and having fun with friends. Living in a community with her friends will be a dream come true. Her main focus is studying energy work, healing and spirituality. She has been a Zen Buddhist for 25 years.

Katy has lived in the Bay Area for most of her adult life. She has been fortunate enough to have exciting and varied careers ranging from educational research, owning both a paint contracting business and an ice cream shop. For the past 14 years Katy has worked for a computer company. Katy loves people and is often designated as the social director of her group of friends. She and her partner, Joyce, love to travel as often as they can, especially to Hawaii, where Katy feels a spiritual connection. At home Katy has become an avid gardener, growing many flowers and humongous tomatoes.
